At the beginning of June members gathered with eleven cars in Portsmouth to take the overnight ferry to St Malo. Disembarking the following morning they headed for our usual breakfast hotel, the Hotel Tirel in the village of Gouesniere. From there a long days driving to Moulay on the outskirts of Mayenne.
From there we had three days of touring the area taking in the beautiful villages and gardens but for some, the highlight was an impromptu visit to the Chateau de la Motte Husson, more commonly know as the TV home of Dick and Angel Strawbridge. Although busy they invited us in for a photo opportunity in front of the Chateau.
Our last day was a near hundred mile run up to the port at Ouistreham. All arrived safely and in good time for the dinner near the port. The little two cylinder AX cars showing how they could eat up the mileage. After dinner, off to the ferry for the overnight crossing, to disembark the next morning early for the drive home.
